Happy New Year Bloggers!

I'd like to take this opportunity to say Happy New Year to all the bloggers out there in cyberland.

I would also like to say a big heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has taken the time to read this blog, leave valuable and much appreciated comments and all of those who have joined my blog via Google Friend Connect (there's still time to join if you haven't already, cheers).

This blog is what it is because of you. Without you it wouldn't be the same. I won't pretend I'm writing for myself, my aim is communication, discussion and friendship with fellow bloggers. Blogging has been very hard work and challenging on the best of days, but also hugely rewarding. You have all given me so much support/encouragement and I will continue to do the same with as many of you as I can get around to in 2014.

This post wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention BLOGCATALOG. This is one of the best blogging communities for people like me who enjoy interacting and debating on a wide variety of topics. A special thanks to the staff TonyB and AngieA who have helped to raise my profile, taking me to new heights. Their VIB status has sent me soaring through cyberland and put my name on the map. BlogCatalog is highly recommended and I'd love everyone to join and see for themselves as you won't be disappointed.

  • I'd love you to do me a big favour. When you leave a comment on this post, please leave me a link to your Best Post of 2013 - the one that you believe is your best piece of work.
  • I'd also love to know how you will be bringing in the New Year at midnight on 31st Dec 2013. Please share.
I'd love to hear your comments, views and opinions.

My next post will be on 10th January 2014... but it might offend, you have been warned.

  2. Wow. The end of this post is very intriguing.
I enjoy your posts and our discussions on the blogosphere. You really switch on the lights of my enthusiasm to express my opinions openly. Not many bloggers can do it, so that's an accomplishment of yours. I tend to be very passionate and open-minded at the same time, so sometimes I choose to be silent.
I will have to be back to post that link you are asking for...
All the best in 2014. I look forward to your posts. Keep going, blogger friend.

  4. I love your blog and the conversations you start here.

Although we "met" at Blog Catalog, I left there long ago as I found I was connecting better elsewhere. Lately they've started sending me all kinds of junk email so I probably wouldn't go back, but I'll always be grateful for having met you there.

So hard to pick your own favorite post. I think I have 4 that I love, but one of my favorites is the Ten Commandments (changed up a bit, of course):

  13. My best work? I'd rather let others decide that.

In 2013, the post with the most views was about blog post immortality. http://mariazannini.blogspot.com/2013/08/make-your-blog-post-nearly-immortal.html

The post that drew a lot of discussion was this one: http://mariazannini.blogspot.com/2013/09/soldier-on.html

But the most routinely popular posts are the 'State of the Homestead' reports (usually once a month). People like to keep tabs on my farm and animals.

  14. You are so right about blogging. It's about forming a community; communicating; discussing; and forming friendships. I've tried several other social media's throughout these past 7 years, but blogging for me, is my favorite way to socialize online because it seems more engaging and creative. And you're also right, it's hard work and takes dedication, but it's also hugely rewarding.

I know we've only recently started blogging with each other, but I thoroughly enjoy your blog and topics. And I look forward to blogging with you in 2014!

The best to you with continued success!

New Years Eve, I will be spending it as I normally do. Quiet and reflective.

I think my favorite post of 2013, is one that I shared about the things my mother learned through her illness with cancer. It was titled: "How Loved She Was In Receiving."

  24. Happy New Year to you, RPD! I've so enjoyed our interactions here in the blogosphere. We have nothing special planned for NYE, probably just going to sit around at home. The mood in our neighborhood is somber because a 21 year old man, an artist who was photographing area graffiti, was murdered by a 14 year old and another accomplice...shot in the head. Very tragic. As far as favorite posts goes, my favorite is definitely my short story, Sun Jelly Pastures. 27. Old Year - New Year

    Shady traditional fulcrum of time.

May Fate pour happiness and contentment all days of your life, which include New Year's Eve and the next day! :)

I will let that time go at Gozo, with Grand. We gave a nice trellis full of grapes and hummingbirds nests. Will hang lots of mandrake leaves on it and will share some good wine I am keeping in store since a month ago. Celts says if you drink with a pal or kiss a beau or a gal under mandrake, the tree spirits will make you be happy forever.

I promise to raise a glass of wine to your health, too!

I do not feel I prefer any of my post this year or any other year, you know, I love all of them as it must be. If I choose one above the others, they may became jealous and make a strike against my blog.

Elf sends his respects, too. Asked pointedly to write his salutation as:

    Wstins Drwosten

Which, always following his lead means: Enjoy the Feast!

And ask me to make sure you know this phrase means any Feast, no only New Year, since this is a human invention with no support from reality. Go figure!!

I know that the Deity will always cover you with contentment because you are a nice and special person.

That if you believe! If you don't, it does not matter, Elf says, because the Deity does believe in you!

'See' you again somewhere in the 2014!

    2. It's now 2014 and I'm wondering if you had a hangover with all that champagne Jerseylil, ha ha ha. It really has been a great pleasure getting to know you and I really enjoy reading your blog and I'm looking forward to what you have to say in this New Year.

Due to the formatting I've had to do some direct links to some blogs.

    3. As a matter of fact, all that champagne usually gives me a headache the next morning and so it was again LOL! But I still enjoy it on New Year’s Eve. :)

RPD, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you too! I tested the link and it works perfectly, thanks! Btw, what is your personal favorite of your own blog posts in 2013?

I wish you a Happy New Year! May this year will be very creative for you, peaceful and healthy.

I decided not to leave a link to one of my posts because I couldn't find the best post of 2013. There are none of them. Unfortunately.

    Very best wishes to you!

    1. Better late than never Slu. Unfortunately, I was watching a film -The Godfather on New Years Eve with a small glass of gin in hand, and the next thing I knew, I was having a deep sleep. I missed everything. And it's just so funny how I suffer with insominia but I slept very well that night. Maybe next year.
I hope you had a great time and I wish you great success and happiness for 2014.
C'mon mate, what's your best post of 2013? I know you've got quite a few.

you blog is so special, and all your post make us thinking a lot...
to say what is the best is really difficult... if I have to say one, the "Antisocial networking" is really good !
Again, we would need to discuss a lot on everyone of your post...
ciao and keep yourself like you are now ! this is what I wish you for 2014 and the rest of your life.

  42. RPD, sorry I am just getting to read this post, which means I am on the other side of New Year's Day. I substantially reduced my time on the internet during the Christmas holidays. I am just getting back into my normal routine. Anyway, bringing in the New Year was really great. I preached at a church on New Year's Eve night to bring in the New Year. Later on New Year's Day, I drove about 250 miles north to spend a couple of days with my three brothers and one sister who live in that area.

Thank you for all of the insightful posts of yours I was blessed to read on last year. I look forward to reading those for this year. I am bracing myself for the one to come this week; thanks for the warning.

I couldn't decide on my favorite post, but here is the link to a post I enjoyed writing:

    1. Don't worry about the delay Frank. You as they say about God, might not come when you want Him, but he's always right on time :)

I'm glad to hear you're not up north any longer judging by the terrible conditions we're hearing about right now ie: the polar votex thing.

Frank, the fact that you enjoyed writing it already says a lot. The pleasure of writing is the heart of the blogging experience and sharing that pleasure is what fulfills it. Here's the direct link and that was a great post:
