I would also like to say a big heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has taken the time to read this blog, leave valuable and much appreciated comments and all of those who have joined my blog via Google Friend Connect (there's still time to join if you haven't already, cheers).
This blog is what it is because of you. Without you it wouldn't be the same. I won't pretend I'm writing for myself, my aim is communication, discussion and friendship with fellow bloggers. Blogging has been very hard work and challenging on the best of days, but also hugely rewarding. You have all given me so much support/encouragement and I will continue to do the same with as many of you as I can get around to in 2014.
This post wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention BLOGCATALOG. This is one of the best blogging communities for people like me who enjoy interacting and debating on a wide variety of topics. A special thanks to the staff TonyB and AngieA who have helped to raise my profile, taking me to new heights. Their VIB status has sent me soaring through cyberland and put my name on the map. BlogCatalog is highly recommended and I'd love everyone to join and see for themselves as you won't be disappointed.
- I'd love you to do me a big favour. When you leave a comment on this post, please leave me a link to your Best Post of 2013 - the one that you believe is your best piece of work.
- I'd also love to know how you will be bringing in the New Year at midnight on 31st Dec 2013. Please share.
My next post will be on 10th January 2014... but it might offend, you have been warned.
I love your blog and your comments... I'm going to look into joining 'blogcatalog'.
ReplyDeleteNot sure of my favorite post... if I think of one, I'll come back.
I am going to run/walk a 5k for New Years eve.... I'll let you know how I do ♡
All the best for you 5k run/walk Launna, I'm sure you'll do very well right to the end. Do come back with your favourite post. I'd love to read it. Happy New Year.
DeleteWow. The end of this post is very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your posts and our discussions on the blogosphere. You really switch on the lights of my enthusiasm to express my opinions openly. Not many bloggers can do it, so that's an accomplishment of yours. I tend to be very passionate and open-minded at the same time, so sometimes I choose to be silent.
I will have to be back to post that link you are asking for...
All the best in 2014. I look forward to your posts. Keep going, blogger friend.
I've always wanted people to openly express themselves here, so I glad I've achieved that in the past year or so. Thank you again for all your support and don't forget to put your link here too.

I love your blog and the conversations you start here.
ReplyDeleteAlthough we "met" at Blog Catalog, I left there long ago as I found I was connecting better elsewhere. Lately they've started sending me all kinds of junk email so I probably wouldn't go back, but I'll always be grateful for having met you there.
So hard to pick your own favorite post. I think I have 4 that I love, but one of my favorites is the Ten Commandments (changed up a bit, of course):

I love this idea, I think I'll ask friends to list their favorite post of last year on my FB page and see what happens. I'll link to this post.
Sorry BC didn't work out for you but at least we got connected there. It's really been a pleasure visiting your blog and looking forward to reading more in 2014. Here's a more direct link to click to your post:

Happy New Year and it's been a right pleasure reading your blog for some time now. Enjoy the family Madison, and hope you return to link up your best post.
DeleteI've been following you for 2 1/2 years now RPD and I love all of your posts. You have a special talent of engaging your readers so deeply and getting to the core of so many socially relevant issues. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your years of support and the wonderful friendship we now share. I hope you have a happy New Year, RPD. I look forward to another year of following your blog! XO

I don't always leave a comment Rum, but I certainly read everything you post, because you always pick topics that make me think. I wish you even more success in the coming year. I'll be spending NYE on my own getting quietly inebriated.

ReplyDeleteIt's been a pleasure following your blog. Glad we connected. I am having a trouble with my link to Blog catalog and need to fix it so I have not been on in a while.
Phil, you've given me quite a few laughs along the way and you sure know how to wet my appetite with all that food you put on show. I'll be back for more in 2014.
DeleteAsk AngieA or TonyB from BC to help you sort that link. They're very much hands on at BC. Happy New Year.
My best work? I'd rather let others decide that.
ReplyDeleteIn 2013, the post with the most views was about blog post immortality. http://mariazannini.blogspot.com/2013/08/make-your-blog-post-nearly-immortal.html
The post that drew a lot of discussion was this one: http://mariazannini.blogspot.com/2013/09/soldier-on.html
But the most routinely popular posts are the 'State of the Homestead' reports (usually once a month). People like to keep tabs on my farm and animals.
Happy New Year, RPD!
I'll definitely be taking a look at those posts which sound very interesting Maria. Hoping you have a truly blessed year:

You are so right about blogging. It's about forming a community; communicating; discussing; and forming friendships. I've tried several other social media's throughout these past 7 years, but blogging for me, is my favorite way to socialize online because it seems more engaging and creative. And you're also right, it's hard work and takes dedication, but it's also hugely rewarding.
ReplyDeleteI know we've only recently started blogging with each other, but I thoroughly enjoy your blog and topics. And I look forward to blogging with you in 2014!
The best to you with continued success!
New Years Eve, I will be spending it as I normally do. Quiet and reflective.
I think my favorite post of 2013, is one that I shared about the things my mother learned through her illness with cancer. It was titled: "How Loved She Was In Receiving."
http://www.triloquist.net/2013/09/how-loved-she-was-in-receiving.html

My best post maybe was " Letter to God Contest".http://joysnotepad.blogspot.no/2013/04/letter-to-god-contest.html.
It inspired many to write their best heartfelt letters to God. Overwhelming response. I am thinking to repost again the prayers to my other blog: willyouhearfromme. blogspot.com.
About new years eve, gonna celebrate it with my dearest hubby:)

You're the first to wish me Happy New Year, and so I return the same to you! May your writings continue to intrigue and amuse in 2014!
ReplyDeleteWhat may possibly be my best blog post of 2013 is:
http://www.theworldofkrsmith.com/2013/07/fsf-challenge-flight.html
It's a poem for one of Lillie McFerrin's Five Sentence Fiction writing challenges based upon the prompt "flight."
I'm not sure yet how I'll be bringing in the New Year - last year I was quite asleep when it happened! Perhaps I'll do something more exciting this year.
Oh yes, the least you can do to bring in the New Year is to bang your saucepans like mad if you're at home. Just one of our little traditions round here. Make it a special one. And I'll be round to visit next year. Not long now.

I am pleased to be a follower of your blog and look forward to visiting your posts. One of my favourite posts of the last year was; http://suzannefurness.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/once-upon-time-iwsg-post.html
ReplyDeleteThe reason I picked this one is because writing it helped me sum up my writing journey to date and gave me a clearer perspective of the road ahead. I had some wonderful comments and support from fellow bloggers too.
New Year will be spent with friends.

ReplyDeleteMy wife and I will be celebrating quietly @ home this New Year's Eve, margaritas around the outdoor fireplace are our plans. We will watch the fireworks off in the distance as we look back towards town.
As far as a best post goes it is hard to say, I don't judge my own writing. All I can do is to tell you to visit and pick the one that is best for you. Have a safe holiday my friend.
I'm so chuffed that you're a fan ScorpionSting. Well, I hope everyone stops by your blog to have a read and pick out their favourites amongst a variety of different topics.

ReplyDelete2013 has been a slow blogging year for me, but I would pick: http://itsagaylife-jamiessmiles.blogspot.ca/2013/06/the-push-to-have-children.html
Yes, it's a brilliant way to share blogs with everyone. That's what I love about blogging this way. Don't worry about missing a few Jamie because you was one of my very first followers and you have been a great commentator on many of my posts since I first started here and I like how you also interacted with comments from the other bloggers too. rpd, it's been an immense pleasure interacting with you both here and on the BC discussion board. You have a wonderful, loyal following of readers, and I always enjoy their candid and perceptive comments. At Aphorism Of The Day one of my favorite posts was this one because of its shameless lyricism: "To one who loves birds, morning always wakes up singing." At Out Of Context I always consider my last post my best, so just click on: wwwaphorismscom.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHave a happy happy New Year. Looking forward to more interactions in 2014.

ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your thought provoking posts.
I also intend to go on a long walk on New Years day. I am glad the holidays are coming to an end as they involve too much forced sociability.
As for a favourite post, I don't think I have one. The one I am writing often seems the most interesting (or the most boring!)
This time of year can be a bit much for some people. It's like you constantly have to have a smile on your face and be happy - 'tis the season to be jolly' - when you really don't always feel like it. Well, not long now Alain, and you'll have another 300 plus days to relax, ha ha ha ha.

Happy New Year to you, RPD! I've so enjoyed our interactions here in the blogosphere. We have nothing special planned for NYE, probably just going to sit around at home. The mood in our neighborhood is somber because a 21 year old man, an artist who was photographing area graffiti, was murdered by a 14 year old and another accomplice...shot in the head. Very tragic. As far as favorite posts goes, my favorite is definitely my short story, Sun Jelly Pastures. All five parts are accessible from the initial post: http://www.channelinghippocrates.com/2013/04/sun-jelly-pastures.html
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to be reminded that life is so short and with that in view none of us should take making it through from 2013 to 2014 for granted. Even more tragic for a person of such a young age.
DeleteThanks for the link Helena, I really enjoyed reading all the parts a while ago (accent included) and I recommend them as a good read. No, not good - a flaming superb read.

My good friend,
ReplyDeleteA heartfelt thank you to you and your positive interaction, your intriguing posts. You truly embrace the ethos in a sharing, caring blogging community. And yes, it can be exhausting. Like you, I do my utmost to comment back to every person who so kindly leaves a comment. And of course, go and visit a huge amount of blogs.
I shall bring in the New Year with a determined resilience that speaks out against those who would be the oppressors. We have a powerful voice for the good and I know you totally relate to that.
I wonder if you might post up what you consider to be your own favourite post. As for me, I do so much variety that I couldn't even begin to pick a favourite of mine. Besides, the best ones on my site are written by a famous dog! :)
A hopeful, happy New Year to you.
Gary
Yes, your dog sure has got talent! But you're not so bad yourself. Perhaps Penny may be be prepared to share a little more of the limelight with you in 2014... we wouldn't want her becoming a diva! :)
DeleteI like the idea of a caring, sharing community of bloggers. It really sums up the ideal for me that we should all be striving for and speaking out when it's necessary to do so. Let's continue to support one another and help to give a voice to those who need a help in hand every once in a while. Thanks for all your support and Happy New Year.

Old Year - New Year
ReplyDeleteShady traditional fulcrum of time.
May Fate pour happiness and contentment all days of your life, which include New Year's Eve and the next day! :)
I will let that time go at Gozo, with Grand. We gave a nice trellis full of grapes and hummingbirds nests. Will hang lots of mandrake leaves on it and will share some good wine I am keeping in store since a month ago. Celts says if you drink with a pal or kiss a beau or a gal under mandrake, the tree spirits will make you be happy forever.
I promise to raise a glass of wine to your health, too!
I do not feel I prefer any of my post this year or any other year, you know, I love all of them as it must be. If I choose one above the others, they may became jealous and make a strike against my blog.
Elf sends his respects, too. Asked pointedly to write his salutation as:
Wstins Drwosten
Which, always following his lead means: Enjoy the Feast!
And ask me to make sure you know this phrase means any Feast, no only New Year, since this is a human invention with no support from reality. Go figure!!
I know that the Deity will always cover you with contentment because you are a nice and special person.
That if you believe! If you don't, it does not matter, Elf says, because the Deity does believe in you!
'See' you again somewhere in the 2014!
Thank you and Elf for the nice message and the constant support. Will he be drinking some of that wine too? Or will he be driving you mad? I'll be sure to raise a glass to you this evening as well.

A Very Happy Year to you, Rum-Punch Drunk!! I have immensely enjoyed your posts this past year and look forward to more. Thank you! We’ll be ringing in the New Year at my house by drinking champagne, eating popcorn, and watching the Ball drop at Times Square in NY on TV. DeleteRPD, sorry I am just getting to read this post, which means I am on the other side of New Year's Day. I substantially reduced my time on the internet during the Christmas holidays. I am just getting back into my normal routine. Anyway, bringing in the New Year was really great. I preached at a church on New Year's Eve night to bring in the New Year. Later on New Year's Day, I drove about 250 miles north to spend a couple of days with my three brothers and one sister who live in that area.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of the insightful posts of yours I was blessed to read on last year. I look forward to reading those for this year. I am bracing myself for the one to come this week; thanks for the warning.
I couldn't decide on my favorite post, but here is the link to a post I enjoyed writing:

Don't worry about the delay Frank. You as they say about God, might not come when you want Him, but he's always right on time :)
DeleteI'm glad to hear you're not up north any longer judging by the terrible conditions we're hearing about right now ie: the polar votex thing.
Frank, the fact that you enjoyed writing it already says a lot. The pleasure of writing is the heart of the blogging experience and sharing that pleasure is what fulfills it. Here's the direct link and that was a great post:

I'm so late to this party!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely post and the fireworks are perfect.
We were asleep by 9:30 on new year's eve.
Better late than never Ragemichelle. If you were asleep by 9.30, I hope that like me you began 2014 bright eyed and bushy tailed, refreshed and rearing to go after a good night sleep.... unlike many.
DeleteHappy New Year! I read that you missed the celebration and slept the night, next time ask someone to wake you up, hahaha, just kidding!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite post would be "How I lost my weight and it's not coming back!", here's my link:

Happy New Year to you, my friend. As for my best post, I'm not sure what that was, but stats show it to be Twin Flames. http://dmyatesbelieveinyourself.blogspot.com/2013/05/twin-flames-or-twin-souls.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DmyatesBelieveInYourself+%28dmyates+Believe+in+Yourself%29 Trust me, a very different subject and quite controversial.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Donna. Hope your keeping well mate. I'll make sure I check out your post later.

Twin Flames or Twin Souls
Dear lord it's been so long since I've been here! Happy belated New Year's man. I'm just now getting back into things, so it's hard to say what my best post of 2013 was. I think I'll go with this one though, it was my last post in 2013 and it had a lot of meaning to me as it involved talking about my mom:

And Happy New Year, my friend, although I am a little late to the game. I look forward to reading your next post, warning or not. One of my favorite posts of mine I think is http://shellysm.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-run-of-his-life.html, a true story.
ReplyDeleteIt's always better late than never Shelly. Happy New and wonderful Year and hope you had a good festive break. I'm not sure if I've seen this post but I'll pop over another time to take a good look. I've put a more direct to your link here:
