Legacy

I'm honoured to have been asked to Guest Post for the first time ever (one-off) for a wonderful blogger called Jon Whiting from 'Speaking My Mind' blog. Jon Whiting has an honest, fresh and raw writing approach, and doesn't pull any punches or hide what he thinks. He opines without fear or favour and I like that in a blogger.

So I ask anyone reading this today to please come over and join us by using the link below. My post is called Legacy:

Legacy - by Rum Punch Drunk

As bloggers, we both appreciate, encourage and welcome participation from you. So let us know what you think by leaving comments. Jon has also written some great articles, so feel free to take a good look around his blog and don't forget to let him know your thoughts, opinions and views on his posts.

I will be back here next week with another topic/subject for us to discuss.

  2. This was a great idea and as usual you wrote an incredible piece. I added Jon's blog to my roll. I certainly don't want to miss out on his writing either.

It must be wonderful to be able to write and write well. I have a thousand thoughts running through my head all the time. But, I freeze when it comes to writing them down.

Perhaps that why I raised an English Prof.. I get to live vicariously through her and her writings.

Thanks again for sharing this. You have become one of my very favorite bloggers. Who knows, maybe one day, I too shall quit hiding behind my camera!!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thanks for the compliment Jackie. And I'm glad you added Jon to your blogroll too. He is an great blogger and I encourage everyone who reads this to go over and check out his posts.

Blogging isn't always easy, and we all want people to read our work, so it's a pleasure when I get the opportunity to let people know where the good bloggers are. I also created a list on my 50th Blog Post below.

      50th Post - A Big Thank You

You said you had many thoughts. I've learned to keep pen/paper handy now because I could never remember them hours later. Jackie, I encourage you not to hide, but just write from your heart. Thanks for the lovely comment. Hope to see you next week.

    1. Yes, I couldn't believe it when he told me what happened. It really brought the topic of legacy home to me and the reality of death. It made me think of how fragile we all are, and that it can happen at any time. Age is no barrier.

Thanks for visiting Jon and for all your support Helena.

  6. Just read your guest post "Legacy." Great post by the way, and very thought provoking. The information about Alfred Nobel, who knew? How ironic.
And how coincidental that Jon's uncle dies just before your post airs. I've never really given much thought to how I'll be remembered. Definitely one for the books, and definitely something to think about! Good job!

    1. So true. Whenever I hear of someone suffering a death it always makes me think of how I'm living my life now, and what I'll leave behind. Death is no joke. Since guest posting I have now heard of 4 deaths in a matter of days. So yes, it's something we should all think about. Thanks Nell.

    1. Thanks Phil, I must admit that I was truly nervous as it was my first guest post and I wanted it to be perfect especially as it was going on someone else's blog, but I've had some great feedback / comments from many people, so I really please that it all worked out well in the end.

It was very sad that my post coincided with Jon's bereavement and I hope that Jon and his family are bearing up.

Jon has got some great posts on his blog, and he has been a great friend to me here. I hope everyone takes the time to read and follow and continue commenting on Jon's blog. . Phil, thanks for stopping by again, and thanks for the comment you left on Jon's blog too.

    1. Thanks for letting me know what you thought of my post on Legacy, and I'm glad you liked it. As we now know, legacies can be changed, so there's no time like the present to do good and leave something behind that others can build on. Thanks for sharing your points of view, and hope to see you again soon Zunnur.

  11. Hi Rum-Punch-Drunk, your excellent guest post on legacy really got me thinking about my own legacy. I left a comment on Jon’s page. Alfred Nobel was a good example of how you can change your legacy. Plus, I learned the story of how the Nobel prize was established (and I love learning new information). Great post, very thought-provoking, and thank you for introducing me to Jon’s fine blog which I have now joined! :)

    1. I too enjoyed finding out about Alfred Nobel, and what he actually did in his lifetime and more-so, after his death. And it's refreshing to know that change is possible if we put our minds to it.

I'm always more than happy to mention excellent blogs, and Jon comes in that category, and I'm happy that you enjoyed the post too. I'll be popping over to you soon :)
